Palm Springs Drive church of Christ: Be Saved!
1) Hear the good news!
We’ve all sinned and deserve to be lost eternally (Romans 3:23; 6:23), but the good news is Jesus died on a cross in our place, taking our punishment on Himself so we could be rescued from the wrath to come (1 Thessalonians 1:10).
“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17).
2) Believe in Jesus
Many people hear the good news, but they don’t believe it. In order to be saved, we must believe Jesus’ message. He is the Son of God, He died to set us free from sin and save us from eternity in Hell. Do you believe it?
“Unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” (John 8:24)
3) Repent
To repent means to change our mind about how we live. The change of mind leads to a change of action. I’m not living for self anymore; I’m living for Jesus because He gave His life for me. Have you repented?
“I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3)
4) Confess Jesus as Lord
We must confess our belief that Jesus is the Savior and Son of God with our mouths to be saved. Have you made the good confession?
“For with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” (Romans 10:10).
5) Be Baptized in Water
We must be baptized in water to be saved. Have you been baptized?
“Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)
“Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.” (Acts 22:16)
6) Stay Faithful for Life
Once you’re baptized, you’re saved! However, baptism is also a commitment to serve the Lord for life. Some get baptized, then years later they leave the Lord and go back to the world. It’s only those who stay loyal and faithful to God who’ll be saved in the end.
“You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.” (Matthew 10:22)
