Men Of Rank are a Lie

Psalm 62:9 - “Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than breath.” In the next election, America wants a new man or woman of high rank to save us from our fears about the economy, healthcare, immigration reform, tax reform, terrorism, and religious freedom. While it’s certainly a blessing to vote on who gets rank, the Bible warns us not to hope in men of rank because they are a lie. Man often achieves rank through immoral behavior, so we can’t really trust them. Even when they achieve rank legitimately, their reigns are temporary and they have no real control over the world or the spiritual realm. “My soul waits in silence for God only; from Him is my salvation.” (62:1)

“My soul, wait in silence for God only, for my hope is from Him.” (62:5). “Once God has spoken; twice I have heard this: that power belongs to God.” (62:11). As Christians, we can and should vote, but let’s remember there’s only one Savior. No matter how much power man wields, how many promises he makes, how many policies he implements, in the end he is just a man, lighter than breath when weighed in the balances with God. Real “hope and change” can only come through the power of the gospel (Rom. 1:16), not the power of government. No matter who gets elected, God is in control, and His rank is no lie.
