Give God Something Good to Watch
Proverbs 15:3 - “For the eyes of the LORD are in every place, watching the evil and the good.” Have you ever flipped through the channels and stumbled across something disturbing and sinful? Maybe you landed right in the middle of a sex scene or a violent act being perpetrated by a psycho killer. In disgust, you immediately change the channel, but the image still lingers, troubling you for the rest of the day. When those things happen in real life, God can’t just change the channel. He sees it all. Can you imagine being forced to watch rated R and X films all day? That’s what God sees in this world every day on almost every channel. I don’t know all of God’s abilities; perhaps He can look away. I do know it must tear His heart apart to have to watch the most disgusting reality show ever; “The Sin-Cursed Life.”
Every time I pass the sign on I-4 that says “God is not angry,” I wonder if they’ve stopped to think about what God’s perfectly pure eyes have to behold in this world. I wonder if they’ve even read Psalm 7:11, “God is a righteous judge, and a God who has indignation every day.” Here’s a challenge: let’s give God something good to watch. Let’s make sure He isn’t disgusted or filled with indignation when He watches our channel. Let’s give Him relief from the “The Sin-Cursed Life” and show Him “The Christ-Redeemed Life” instead.
