Evangelism Challenge # 2: Mention God in Conversation

Here’s your new evangelism challenge: mention God in a conversation with someone who doesn’t attend a church of Christ. This is easier than you might think and can be done in a way that is quite natural in the flow of a casual conversation. Consider the examples below.

  • Someone asks how you’re doing and you answer, “God has blessed me. How are you?”.
  • The conversation is about the weather and you make a comment about the God who controls the weather.
  • The conversation is about the traffic and you say, “There is one thing I like about heavy traffic: it gives me time to pray and think about God.”
  • The person is talking about how good things are going in their life right now and you say, “That’s wonderful! God is good, isn’t He?”.
  • The person is talking about how bad things are going in their life right now and you say, “I’ll be praying that things get better for you. God cares about what you’re going through.”

The examples could be multiplied. I simply wanted to get your wheels turning on the kinds of things you can say in different situations. You can apply the basic concept to virtually any kind of conversation you’re having. Look for openings, then take them whenever the opportunity arises.
