Evangelism Challenge # 4: Be Happy
Several days ago I was waiting to check out at Publix. The man ahead of me was talking to the cashier in such a joyful way that the cashier asked, “What makes you so happy?” He said, “My relationship with Jesus Christ and my two little girls!”
Needless to say, that was an inspiring moment for me and undoubtedly for the cashier as well. It shows the power of happiness. Doors can open evangelistically when we simply allow the joy of Christ to shine in our hearts.
Your next evangelism challenge is to, well, be happy. Choose to remember God’s blessings and make a conscious effort to show your joy to others in your speech and body language. If you do this consistently for any length of time, you will likely see opportunities arise to talk to others about Christ. It will happen naturally.
When that happens, give the person you’re talking to a church card and invite them to services. Simple as that.
Christians should be the happiest people on the planet. Everyone in the world wants to be happy. When they see that you’ve got what they want, they’ll want it too.
“Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved” (Acts 2:46-47).
