Evangelism Challenge # 7: Let Your Light Shine
Your new evangelism challenge is simple. Do what Jesus said in Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” That’s evangelism! Just show others your commitment to God by living for Him.
When you do this, people will notice that you’re different, and they’ll be curious why. Or they will automatically know why — because you’re a Christian. This is perhaps the single best evangelistic method there is.
Maybe you haven’t been standing up for what’s right among your co-workers. Maybe you haven’t been setting a good example with your relatives. Maybe you shy away from talking about what you did over the weekend because it stands in stark contrast to what your friends did over the weekend.
Whatever the case, make an effort this week to let your light shine before men just a little brighter than before. If people don’t “see your good works,” then they won’t “glorify your Father who is in Heaven.” So let them see your good works — not in a showy way, obviously. Do it with humility. But do it. If you do, doors will open evangelistically that you never knew existed.
