Evangelism Challenge: Offer a Bible Study

Evangelism Challenge: Offer a Bible Study

There are several effective evangelistic methods, but none so vital as asking someone for a Bible study . . . with you as the teacher. Intimidating, I know. You might think it’s impossible.

It isn’t. You can do it! You don’t have to be a skilled teacher. You only need two things: a desire to reach the lost and a working knowledge of Scripture.

“What would I teach? Where would I start?” Good questions!

One suggestion is to pick a book of the Bible you feel comfortable with and read it with the individual one chapter per session. After each paragraph or so, give a few brief comments and let the other person make comments. Simple.

Many Christians like to use the gospel of Mark. Since it’s the shortest gospel, it’s the easiest to teach. The life of Christ is a perfect place to start with new prospects.

My sister is studying Ecclesiastes with some of her friends. What a great idea! That book answers the all-important question, “What is the meaning of life?”

There are many other fitting books to study with new prospects, such as Acts, Ephesians, even Genesis. Pick a book you know, and go with that one.

Your evangelism challenge is twofold:

  • Choose a Bible book to teach.
  • Offer a study to at least one person in the next two weeks.

Are you up for the challenge? This one isn’t easy! Fortunately, we don’t have to rely on ourselves for success in evangelism. Paul wrote, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation” (Rom. 1:16a).
