Evangelism Challenge: Use the Spiritual Growth Cycle
Tim Welsh recently explained in the congregational meeting that the four-step spiritual growth cycle can be an effective evangelism tool. He invited a co-worker to services. The man asked something like, “What does your church practice?” Holding a church card in his hand, Tim responded by briefly explaining the four steps on the blue circle. “It’s simple. We worship God, study His word, love one another, and reach the lost.”
I love this approach because it gives us a clear narrative for explaining to people what we practice as a church. In the past, I often felt unsure where to start in explaining that to people. Maybe you can relate.
Sometimes we want to list all the things we don’t do as a church, right out of the gate. There’s a time and a place for that, but initially it’s better to explain to people what we actively do. The spiritual growth cycle lays it out in simple terms everyone can understand. Try using it next time someone asks.
