Judged by the Queen of Sheba?

“The Queen of the South will rise up with this generation at the judgment and will condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.” (Matthew 12:42).  Jesus shamed the Pharisees because a Gentile woman had more faith than they did.  She was willing to investigate truth (1 Kings 10:1).  The Pharisees were not.  She recognized Solomon’s greatness when she saw it (1 Kings 10:4-8).  The Pharisees saw Jesus’ greatness, yet asked for more signs (Matt. 12:38-39).

She knew Solomon displayed God’s wisdom and power (1 Kings 10:9).  The Pharisees accused Jesus of displaying Satan’s power (Matt. 12:24).  Finally, she was so impressed, she gave Solomon more money, spices, and precious stones than anyone in the world as tribute (1 Kings 10:10).  The Pharisees never honored Jesus that way and were completely unimpressed by Him.  What about us?  How impressed are we with Jesus?  How carefully have we investigated who He is?  How much of our lives are we willing to give Him as tribute?  Lest the Queen of Sheba be our judge, let us come to King Jesus and say, as she did, “Behold, not even the half was told me.” (1 Kings 10:7).
