Are You Ready for the Storm?
“Everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.” (Matt. 7:24-25). I’m always amazed at the fully stocked water shelves all year, but we don’t buy any when the skies are clear. We wait until the hurricane is almost here, we rush to the store and the water is either gone or rationed. We have all year to prepare for the storm yet so many procrastinate or don’t prepare at all.
We don’t need news anchors to tell us the storms of life are coming. There will be trials; dark, difficult days. There will be storms. Jesus says the way to batten down the hatches for the storm is to hear His words and obey. When we obey His will in the good times, it prepares us for the bad times. When the rains slam our house, we’ll be founded on the immovable rock of obedient faith. Are you ready for the storm?
