Leaving Baal and the Fence
Leaving Baal and the Fence
“‘How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.’ But the people did not answer him a word.’” (1 Kings 18:21). Riding the fence is easy. It takes no commitment. If we spend our whole lives unsure what we believe, there’s no action required. We can pontificate our way through life, constantly weighing alternatives but never deciding. God calls us to make a decision and commit right now.
Even some Christians profess belief in God, but live like they aren’t sure. They keep one foot on the wide path for pleasure and one foot on the narrow path just in case God exists. “Because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth,” said Jesus. (Rev. 3:16). “No one can serve two masters,” said Jesus. (Matt. 6:24). So, are we in or out? We can’t be both. If you’re in, be all in. Jesus was all in for you. If you’re not in, find out why and address it. Your soul is on the line and we’re here to help. Baal won’t get you to heaven, and neither will the fence. It’s time to leave both behind.
