When Death Dies

When Death Dies

I’m growing weary of death.  Lately, we’ve lost too many to its cold clutches.  Death separates us from loved ones, it leaves a void in our hearts and there’s nothing anyone can say to make the pain go away.  Funerals are hard and no one wants to go, but there’s one funeral I can’t wait to attend:  death’s funeral!  God knows the pain death has caused us and He will take vengeance on death in the end!  What a glorious, happy day it’ll be when death dies!

Isaiah promised, “He will swallow up death for all time, and the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces.” (Isaiah 25:8a)  Jesus reigns in Heaven waiting to crush death under His feet forever! “The last enemy that will be abolished is death.” (15:26).  In the end, when He returns and His followers are resurrected to life, “Death and Hades (the realm of the dead) are thrown into the lake of fire.” (Rev. 20:14).  When God takes vengeance and gives death a taste of its own medicine, “He will wipe every tear from our eyes, and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” (Rev. 21:4)
