Marriage Challenge: Ask How You Can Help

Marriage Challenge: Ask How You Can Help

In marriage, it’s easy for every communication to become transactional. “Did you pay the water bill?” “Please remind the kids to take showers today.” “What’s for dinner tonight?”

These messages can crowd out, if not completely eliminate, other more thoughtful messages your spouse needs to hear. Sometimes they just want a phone call from you saying, “Hey honey, I just wanted to see how you’re doing today.” Or a text saying, “Is there anything you need me to do for you today?”

Your challenge over the next two weeks is to try to make a habit of contacting your spouse sometime during each day to ask how he or she is doing and if there is anything you can do for them. This simple gesture will go a long way at communicating love and building a stronger relationship in your marriage.

“Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.”

—Galatians 6:2
