Marriage Challenge: Renew Your Vows
Marriage Challenge: Renew Your Vows
For the past 15 months I’ve been issuing marriage challenges in this section of the Bulletin in order to help those of us who are married to become more effective, more godly spouses. Today’s marriage challenge will be the last one.
The challenge is this: Write a set of new vows and read them to your spouse. They need to be original vows from your heart stated in your language. When you read your vows, consider making the occasion special — perhaps a candle-lit dinner or a trip to somewhere meaningful to you both. You could even make arrangements to renew your vows before a preacher with family present.
Doing this will serve as a living testament to the priceless value of marriage in God’s eyes and the incredible honor of oneness with your spouse.
“Where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. Thus may the Lord do to me, and worse, if anything but death parts you and me.”
—Ruth 1:16b-17
