A Friendly Push
“Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.” (Proverbs 27:6). Two weeks ago, I preached about our need to step out of the boat in 2020, to leave our comfort zones and take risks for the Lord. That adventure breathes new life into our relationship with God! The problem is, sometimes we’re too paralyzed to step out of the boat on our own and we need a good friend to push us out!
I procrastinated for months to evangelize at Crane’s Roost park. Everything had to be perfect first, and it never was. I needed Terry Tokash to look me in the eye and say, “We’re going tonight!” It was terrifying and I wasn't happy with him for rushing me, but I needed that push and I needed him to go with me. I think about God sending Aaron to help Moses confront Pharaoh and Jesus sending His disciples out by two’s. God knows it’s easier to step out of the boat when we’re not alone. Do you have a friend to push you to new spiritual heights? Can you be that friend for someone else? If we see our brethren stuck in the boat this year, let’s give a friendly push and step out together in 2020!
